Pet Wellness & Prevention

Routine nose-to-tail wellness exams play a vital role in keeping your pet healthy at every stage of life. Because pets are experts at hiding signs and symptoms of illness, subtle changes in their health or behavior can easily go unnoticed without regular preventative care.

At Uptown Veterinary Hospital, our treatment philosophy is aimed at prevention with early diagnosis and treatment. We would love to partner with you in helping your pet live a long, happy, and healthy life.

Microchipping

Even the most well-cared-for pets can become lost unexpectedly. Microchipping provides a permanent form of identification that can greatly increase the chances of being reunited with your pet. A microchip is a tiny implant placed just beneath the skin that contains a unique identification number, which can be read by a scanner at veterinary clinics and shelters. The procedure is quick, safe, and typically performed during a routine visit.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are an important part of preventive healthcare, helping protect pets from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccines as their immune systems develop, followed by boosters throughout adulthood. Our veterinarians will recommend a vaccination schedule tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors. Common vaccines for dogs include rabies, distemper combination vaccines (such as distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus), leptospirosis, and bordetella. For cats, common vaccines include rabies and feline distemper combination vaccines (such as panleukopenia, calicivirus, and herpesvirus).
